About

I’m Joe Balich, a Product and UX Designer who transforms complex, data-heavy problems into tools people actually depend on. I think in systems, design for humans, and ship work that reduces friction, accelerates time-to-value, and scales without breaking.

My approach balances strategic thinking with hands-on execution. I'm equally comfortable mapping out a product vision or refining interaction details until they feel right. After years designing mission-critical software, I founded HCI Lab, which taught me to scope ruthlessly, prioritize with conviction, and focus on outcomes over output. Understanding how business systems connect, from customer acquisition to delivery, makes me a better designer.

Outside of work, long walks, time with friends and family, and trips to the ocean reset my brain. At home in the desert, I garden with native plants and have recently developed an unexpected interest in birdwatching. (Am I getting old? Maybe. But it's delightful.)

I'm now seeking a long-term role on a collaborative team where I can focus on complex product challenges and do the best work of my career. If you value thoughtful systems, crisp execution, and a partner who sweats the details from strategy through shipping, let's talk.

Yours truly,
